On September 2, the court in Nur-Sultan ruled to recover KZT 1,000,000 (about USD 2000) from the blogger and journalist Gulbanu Abenova as compensation for moral damage to the former head of Center for International Programs JSC, now Minister of Science and Higher Education of Kazakhstan Sayasat Nurbek. The trial took place in connection with a lawsuit to protect the honor, dignity, and business reputation of Sayasat Nurbek for the post of Gulbanu Abenova «Mutually beneficial internship?» (Facebook, 28.11.2020) about possible corruption schemes in the scholarship program «Bolashak» when Sayasat Nurbek was the head of the Center for International Programs. The court decision will be challenged in the appeal instance.
