Basmanny Court of Moscow arrested in absentia Marina Ovsyannikova, former editor of Channel One. In August, Ovsyannikova was put under house arrest on the case of «fakes» about the Russian Army (Paragraph D of Part 2 of Article 207.3 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation). The case was initiated because of an individual picket of the former editor: on July 15, the woman came to Moscow’s Sofia embankment with a poster, «Putin is a murderer. His soldiers are fascists. 352 children died. How many more children must die for you to stop?». On 4 October 2023, the Basmanny District Court of Moscow sentenced Marina Ovsyannikova in absentia to 8.5 years of prison in a case concerning the dissemination of "fakes" about the Russian army on the grounds of political hatred (Article 207.3, paragraph 2).
