On 2 February, regional television company Trialeti reported that it has suspended its satellite broadcasting due to a financial crisis, which it says was “artificially created” as a result of pressure from the authorities. The company stated that its bank accounts were frozen and that its funds were seized on multiple occasions. According to the statement, the state refused to apply the tax settlement mechanism provided by law in Trialeti’s case, even though the same authorities have concluded such agreements with more than 10,000 organisations over the years, writing off more than five billion lari in total. Trialeti described these actions as “political revenge.”
