The Russian Ministry of Justice has added journalist Yan Shenkman to its register of “foreign agents.” The ministry said he spread false information about Russian government policies, opposed the war in Ukraine, and took part in the activities of organisations deemed “undesirable.” Shenkman has previously worked as a correspondent for Ogonyok, deputy editor-in-chief of Russia Beyond, an editor at Medved magazine and the Rambler media company, and a columnist for Novaya Gazeta.
