Justice for Journalists Foundation joins Safety of journalists´ Platform

The Justice for Journalists Foundation today became partner to the Council of Europe’s Platform to promote the protection of journalism and safety of journalists. The Director of Justice for Journalists Foundation, Maria Ordzhonikidze, signed the agreement to join the Platform with the Council of Europe Secretary General, Marija Pejčinović Burić.

The Platform allows partner media freedom organisations to alert the Council of Europe on serious concerns regarding the safety of journalists and attacks to media freedom. The key objectives of the Platform are documenting and reporting on instances of violence and threats against journalists, and facilitating dialogue with member states on ways to respond to these threats.

The Justice for Journalists Foundation is a recognised voice in the fight for freedom of expression, given the work it does on the safety of journalists and in monitoring attacks against media workers, and will bring a strong added value to the Platform.

The Justice for Journalists Foundation is the 15th organisation to join the Platform. The other partners are: Article 19, the Association of European Journalists, Committee to Protect Journalists, the European Broadcasting Union, the European Centre for Press and Media Freedom, the European Federation of Journalists, Free Press Unlimited, Index on Censorship, the International Federation of Journalists, the International News Safety Institute, the International Press Institute, Pen International, Reporters Without Borders and the Rory Peck Trust.
