Ion Chicu, President of the Party of Development and Consolidation of Moldova, used insults, offensive labels, and baseless derogatory accusations against the news outlets Laf.md, Nokta.md, and Ziarul de Gardă. In a Facebook post on February 25, he stated, "The PAS-ista servants (of the ruling party) in the employed media will have to answer for everything they have done." His reaction followed the People's Advocate's request for the Speaker of the People's Assembly of Gagauzia, Dmitri Konstantinov, to apologize to journalists and take action against the spread of hate speech.
