On September 2, a trial began in Aktobe on charges of Ardak Yerubayeva, the correspondent of Orda.kz, of disobeying a lawful order or demand of a law enforcement or special state body official. Administrative proceedings were initiated for the journalist's attempt to photograph the government motorcade of the Kazakh Prime Minister on August 31. According to the police version, the journalist was unmarked and jumped out of the crowd towards the motorcade with a protected person. Ardak herself reported that she was standing in the row of civilians, did not jump forward, and was detained as soon as she raised her hand with her cell phone to take pictures of the motorcade.
