On May 6, former Assistant to the Prime Minister of Armenia, Nairi Sargsyan, filed a lawsuit in the Court of General Jurisdiction of the Gegharkunik Region against LLC "Editorial Office of Zhoghovurd Newspaper" (Zhoghovurd), demanding a retraction of information he considers defamatory. He is also seeking compensation in the amount of 2 million drams (over $5,000) and 500,000 drams (about $1,300) to cover legal fees. The lawsuit was prompted by an article published on April 16 in the Zhoghovurd newspaper, owned by the mentioned LLC, and on its website "Armlur.am." The article claims that Nairi Sargsyan is currently leveraging connections he developed during his years in public service to benefit his new employer, GTB, a company that reportedly won the right to reconstruct a section of Yerevan’s landmark "Cascade" complex through a formal tender process. The case is currently under review.
