On October 5, a group of activists of the Azerbaijani Popular Front Party held a protest in front of the Specialised Treatment Facility of the Penitentiary Service of Azerbaijan. The activists demanded the release of the party member Niyameddin Ahmedov and called on the local media and human rights activists not to remain indifferent to the fate of the arrested party members. They pointed out that they gathered in connection with the fact that Niyameddin Ahmedov has been on a hunger strike for 13 days in the mentioned penitentiary institution. In connection with the coronavirus pandemic, police officers demanded that the protesters disperse. The journalists were detained by force, taken to the district police department, and later released. Journalist Aysel Umudova said that her arm was damaged and her glasses were broken on her Facebook page. The police also took her phone and threatened to hack it.
