On January 31, Azamat Nuratdinov, a blogger from the Muynak district of Karakalpakstan, was found guilty at a trial in Bukhara under Part 3 of Article 244 (organization of mass riots) and Paragraph A of Part 3 of Article 244-1 (production, storage, distribution or display of materials threatening public security and public order, committed by prior conspiracy or group) and sentenced to five years of the restriction of freedom. The sentence was reduced to 4 years, 5 months and 17 days. The judge lifted Nuratdinov’s preventive measure and ordered his release from custody.
