On the 18th of October, a court in Astana delivered its verdict on the case of Daniyar Adilbekov, author of Telegram channel 'Dikaya Orda' (the Wild Horde). He was found guilty of knowingly disseminating false information, knowingly falsely reporting a crime as well as accusing someone of committing a corruption-related offence. Furthermore, the court examined a civil complaint submitted by journalist G. Ergaliyevaya, a bystander who was caught up in the incident. The court partially satisfied her demands, ordering Adilbekov to pay her damages for emotional distress and court expenses, to the value of 2.2 million tenge. The court stated: 'The time limit for the voluntary payment of damages will be 3 days after the verdict enters into force. After this term expires, the court's sentence will be carried out forcibly'. As of the 18th of October the sentence had not come into effect.
