A criminal case has been opened against Saratov journalist Elena Nalimova for allegedly insulting a representative of the authorities (Article 319 of the Criminal Code). The case stems from a voice message posted in a private chat group of city park defenders, in which Nalimova sharply criticised Yulia Litnevskaya, a regional Duma deputy from United Russia. The case was launched following a complaint by Regional Duma Chairman Alexei Antonov. Nalimova has reported receiving threats and harassment. Every day, several offensive posts targeting her and her family are published on the Telegram channel “They Write on the Fence Too.” She has also been sent threats via private messages and comments on her own channel.
