The editor-in-chief of Azadlıq newspaper, Ganimat Zahid, who resides in France, has been summoned to the Prosecutor General’s Office. In July 2025, Zahid was charged under Article 281.2 of the Criminal Code (public calls against the state). Because he allegedly evaded the investigation, authorities issued a search notice for him, and the Sabail District Court ordered his arrest in absentia as a preventive measure. On September 18, 2025, prosecutors decided to file additional charges against him related to the same case. The Prosecutor General’s Office has ordered Zahid to appear at the Investigation Department on October 20, 2025, at 10:00 a.m.
