The editorial board of the weekly newspaper Nasha Gazeta received a notice from the Information Committee of the Ministry of Information and Public Development demanding to eliminate violations of the law on age marking of print media. The letter states that in July 2023, in violation of the law «On the Protection of Children from Information Harmful to their Health and Development», four issues of Nasha Gazeta did not have such marking. The editorial board disagrees with the agency’s demand, noting that the media outlet publishes materials on social and political topics, which exempts the print media from mandatory age marking. Meanwhile, the Ministry continues to insist on marking the newspaper’s issues, as the media registration certificate lists the thematic orientation as «publication of informational materials». As a result, the editorial board decided to put an age marking.
