On 3 February, GTB Development LLC and its director, Grigor Ter-Ghazaryan, filed a lawsuit with the Yerevan Court of General Jurisdiction against Mesrop Manukyan, a member of the Yerevan Council of Elders, as well as against the founders of the news websites Aysor.am, News.am and Pastinfo.am (Aysor AM LLC, News AM LLC and Pastinfo). The plaintiffs are seeking a retraction of information regarded as defamatory and are also claiming compensation from Mesrop Manukyan in the amount of 3 million drams (approximately $8,000). The grounds for the lawsuit were a video posted by Manukyan on 8 January on his Facebook page under the headline “The driver of a Lamborghini is being given a $2 million handout from our pockets”, which alleged that the ruling party, Civil Contract, had allocated $2 million from the state budget to a company affiliated with a political force supporting the government. The above-mentioned media outlets also published this material.
