Ulvi Hasanli, the imprisoned director of Abzas Media, has gone on a hunger strike in protest against his transfer to the "Umbaki" detention center. As a result, the prison administration has punished him — the journalist has been placed in a disciplinary cell for the past five days. He has also been denied the right to meet with his wife and child. The ban was justified on the grounds that he does not have an officially registered marriage. Since beginning the hunger strike, the journalist’s weight has dropped from 77 kilograms to 71 kilograms. Despite his deteriorating health, he has not received any medical assistance or been examined by a doctor.
