The mother of Tajik journalist Anora Sarkorova was again invited to the Department for Combating Organised Crime of The Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Tajikistan. Anora herself told journalists about this on February 2. Sarkorova’s mother was told that a criminal case had been opened against her daughter, who now lives in Europe, but did not specify under what article. A criminal case was previously opened against her husband, journalist Rustami Joni. Anora Sarkorova, a former journalist for the BBC Russian Service, and Rustami Joni, former editor of Radio Imruz and a media outlet of the same name, were active in covering the bloody events in Badakhshan in 2022. The authorities have already summoned Anora Sarkorova’s mother several times to the security services and the police.
