Leading specialists on safety (risk assessment etc), digital security and trauma will be available to give freelancers free tailored one-to-one consultations either in person or remotely online Lasting 45 minutes each, these consultations are free and available through online booking.
The surgeries are intended for freelancers who are preparing for an assignment or who are concerned about their safety or security. They provide an opportunity to receive direct access to expert knowledge, advice and guidance that will help them manage their preparations and improve their safety skills. Security advisers from organisations including 1st Option Safety, Buzzfeed, HP Risk Management and CNN will be available to provide guidance on safety issues, risk assessment, assignment planning and digital security.
For the first time, journalism and trauma experts from the Dart Centre Europe will also be available to give guidance on interviewing contributors, self-care, and planning for potentially traumatic assignments.
Individual surgeries will be available throughout the day in 45 minute slots. Online consultations via a secure platform will be available for those living outside of the UK or unable to travel to London.
